Does Warm Water and Cold Water Affect Us Differently?

Those of us who live in the tropics will naturally reach out for a glass of a cold drink, preferably iced, to quench our thirst on a hot day. The refreshing taste of the cold water hitting our palates is sufficient to send one into a state of satisfying frenzy as it purportedly cools our bodies. However, what most are not aware of is the benefits of drinking warm water actually far outweigh that of cold water.

Although warm water does not seem to be that rewarding or comforting on hot days, there are many benefits inherent in the habit. Clinical nutritionists and health experts in food and nutrition sciences are recommending drinking warm water in the morning and if possible with the addition of a slice of lemon that is polyphenol-rich or a teabag as tea contains properties for decreasing free radical properties in the body. The body has its own rhythmic cycle whereby it disposes of waste during morning times. The drinking of warm water helps the body in the expelling of unwanted wastes. It is important to have regular bowel movements in the morning in order to remove all toxins from the body.

The drinking of warm water helps in preventing premature aging. The presence and accumulation of toxins in the body on a long-term basis will do damage to cells and organs of the body. The drinking of hot water is a natural remedy for colds, coughs and sore throats. Hot water naturally clears phlegm from the respiratory tract and helps clear nasal congestion. The advantage of drinking hot water is there are no short-term and long-term side effects as there is no introduction of non-natural substances into the body.

The drinking of warm water should be made into a habit. Most of us have grown up stretching for a glass of iced water when tasty. In view of the benefits of warm water discussed above, it is important that the habit change to the drinking of warm water.
