Udaipur : Of the two cases of currency loot, that had taken place in Udaipur division earlier this week, the mystery behind the bigger loot of 14.40 Lakh rupees at Pratapgarh has been solved. The police arrested 2 men including a bank employee for their alleged involvement in looting the cashier who was carrying the money from Pratapgarh to Nimbahera on the National Highway 113 on Monday noon. Vinod Vaishnav, an employee at the Central Cooperative bank and his aide Chandresh Singhvi have been arrested and the cops have seized 11.40 Lakh rupees of the looted sum, from their possession. “ We are in lookout for 3 more persons who helped these men in the loot and the remaining money is with them” Kaluram Rawat, Superintendent of Police, Pratapgarh told TOI.
“ We had received a complaint from one Babulal Khatik, a cashier at the central cooperative bank that four men snatched away his money bag while he was driving his car towards Nimbahera on Monday noon. His collegue Vinod Vaishnav was seated beside him in the vehicle when suddenly four men who approached on a bike, asked them to halt. The men threw chilly powder in Khatik’s eyes and before he could do anything, escaped with the money” Rawat said. Police has suspected Vinod Vaishnav from the beginning as he wasn’t harmed at all during the attack. Police kept watch on his activities for two days and detained him for thorough interrogation.
Vaishnav couldn’t keep the secret for long and confessed to have conspired with his friends Chandresh (20), Appu alias Sanjay (20), Vijay Gurjar (22) and Lakhan Gayri (24) to loot the bank money. Bank cashier Babulal Khatik had told him that they had to collect and carry 15 lakh rupees from the main branch at Pratapgarh to Nimbahera on November 28 and Vaishnav made a plan to loot the money with the help of his aides. According to their plan, they separated in two teams and waited for Khatik’s car to pass between a deserted route between Dholapani and Chhoti Sadri. When they saw the vehicle approaching, the men signaled Khatik who was driving the car to stop and thus executed their plan. Appu, Vijay and Lakhan are absconding and police is searching them.
